- Tape measure, Speed square, Pencil, Level, Circular saw, Straightedge cutting guide, Jigsaw, Drill/driver, Countersink bit, Wood bits for clearance holes (free screw passage), pilot holes (smaller guides in receiving wood) and jigsaw starter holes; adjustable depth stop, T20 and T25 star driver bits, Bar clamps (at least 2, 24 in or longer), Sandpaper, Small paintbrush, Safety glasses, Hearing protection, Work gloves, Dust mask, Sawhorses (a pair), Flat scrap bridges, clamp pads and packing blocks saved from offcuts, Calipers, Stable workbench or sacrificial support boards, Scrap prop: plywood offcut about 16 in long and 6 in wide, plus a packing block, Hand screwdriver matching the deck screws, Sanding block, dust brush and clean wiping cloths, Watering can and Two stable supports about 8 in high with flat tops at least 12 x 24 in (two stacks of scrap lumber screwed together, or two low sturdy boxes).
